My good friend, national champion, and traveling coach Timmy Hunckler regularly hosts coaching camps at wind tunnels around the world. He often reaches out for social media banners and promotional graphics to support his events. Timmy provides headshots or action photos along with a brief description of the tone he’s aiming for, and I build the visuals from there.
For this series, he requested bright colors that complemented the wind tunnel’s grey‑and‑dark‑pink branding. The final graphics were designed to stand out on social media while keeping the focus on Timmy’s coaching style and the energy of the sport.
I initially created a design using the same stock photo of Timmy and another coach, but he later asked for a brighter, more upbeat look. He also provided updated images, which gave me room to rework the layout and color palette into a more energetic, “happy” design that better matched the tone he wanted for the event.
Inspiration struck to reference The Terminator, since this camp coincided with the release of the newest film in the series. The first design leaned heavily into the theme, but Timmy felt the oversized name treatment was a bit much. After revising the layout and dialing back the intensity, we moved forward with the final version shown on the right.
Timmy has found a lot of success with fun, themed graphics, so we continued that direction with these three designs. The piece on the left plays on the word leap, with his likeness stylized as a high jumper. The Valentine’s Day graphic on the right leans into a nostalgic, warm aesthetic to match the holiday.
The bottom design came from a simple request: turn his teammate into a bear and Timmy into a park ranger. I approached it like an old Denver postcard, incorporating the national parks emblem to reinforce the theme and give the graphic a vintage travel feel.
